Extreme Heat Warning
The Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency (RIEMA) is monitoring an extreme heat warning that begins Thursday, July 2nd and will continue through Sunday, July 5, 2026.
Key messages to keep in mind:
• Dangerous heat arrives Thursday and continues into Saturday, likely peaking on Thursday and Friday with heat indices ranging from 98°F to 112°F.
• There is a chance of thunderstorms each day from Thursday through Sunday. The highest risk of strong storms, including the greatest areal coverage, is expected to occur on Saturday, July 4th, with the passage of a cold front.
Precautionary / Preparedness Actions:
• Encourage residents to drink plenty of fluids and stay in air-conditioned rooms.
• Advise the public to stay out of the sun.
• Remind community members to check up on relatives and neighbors.
As a reminder, the town's cooling station is located at the Hopkinton Police Station and is open at all hours for residents if needed.
